Four Ducks reach podium in first sporting clay tournament of season

The Colusa County Ducks opened their sporting clays season on Sunday with a solid showing at Comanche Hills in Ione.

The Ducks brought a total of 16 kids to the tournament, and four of their shooters reached the podium, including Cade Smith, Gus Armstrong, Dustin Wurm, and Chase Carrere.

Competing in the rookie division, Smith earned a first-place finish, hitting 68-of-100 targets. In the Intermediate Entry Division, Armstrong also placed first, shooting 92-of-100 targets, and Wurm placed third, hitting 83-of-100 targets. Carrere took third place in the Junior Varsity division, shooting 87-of-100.

The Ducks’ next tournament is at Quail Point in Zamora on Oct. 7.
