After consulting with the Colusa County Office of Education, school officials have decided to call off school Friday, Nov. 16, as well as Monday and Tuesday ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday.
“Due to the ongoing unhealthy air quality and a forecast which indicates no significant improvement in the near term, we think this is the best course of action to keep all of our students and staff safe and healthy,” said Superintendent Dwayne Newman. “This decision was made after careful consideration regarding the needs of all students.

The Colusa County Superintendent of Schools, Mike West announced that the following school districts will be closed on Nov. 15 through Nov. 23 due to the ongoing poor air quality:

  • Colusa Unified School District
  • Maxwell Unified School District
  • Pierce Joint Unified School District
  • Williams Unified School District
  • Colusa County Office of Education

West said all districts intend to resume classes on Monday, Nov. 26.
