Fire Damages Local Pub

Staff Report | Lloyd Green Jr.

Fire nearly destroyed local Colusa establishment Sportsman Club on August 27, 2011 around 6:00 pm and is still under investigation; however, arson is unlikely.

The quiet saturday evening quickly broke into panic when patrons began reporting the smell of smoke. The establishment was quickly evacuated and firefighters arrived on scene.

Smoke could be seen billowing out of the sides and back of the building but flames were not visible.

There was minimal damage done to the building and the fire was contained to the bar. Worries that the fire had spread between the row-house type business establishment that neighbored a Barbershop and the Reclamation District.

Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the blaze.

No one was injured in the blaze. â—„
