Williams Basketball Week 6 Report

La Fortuna 56,   Alsco-Geyer Bulls 50
In a game that started looking one sided turned to be a tight match with a series of attacks and counter attacks.       La Fortuna went out to an early and large lead of 14 points building a lead off a barrage of three pointers.  La Fortuna scored 18 of their first 22 points from behind the three-point line.     However the Alsco Bulls went off on a 20-8 run closing the margin to just 2 right after the half.  Then La Fortuna went off on a 11-0 run to go up double digits again by 13, only to be followed by a Bulls run of 12-2.  This brought the game to a tight finish, a 3 point lead by Fortuna  with a minute to play.  After a series of tense misses Hugo Pineda hit his seventh trey of the afternoon to ice the game and win it for La Fortuna.  The win put them in a tie with H&R Block Savages for fourth place.  Huga Pineda led all scorers with phenomenal three point shooting, gaining all his points from seven three pointers and 21 points.  Also to be noted was Cory Madron for La Fortuna hitting consecutive 4 three pointers in the first half setting up the early lead and getting 16  points.   C Barerra led the Bulls with 15 points.

Fouch & Sons Redskins 67,  M&K Harvesting Fuzz 31
The Redskins found their stroke early in this game and continued to build a lead.  By the first half the count was 32-17 Fouch & Sons.  Then the Redskins got into high gear putting the game out of reach early in the second half going up as much as  36 points.    The Fuzz were able to find shots but could not get them to fall for points.  David Basset of the Redskins led all scorers wtih 16 points and Ivan Maldanado led the Fuzz with 9.

Swat 57.  Vann Bros. Young Gunz 18
While the game had a surprising start with the Vann Bros Young Gunz leading ¬†near the halfway point of the first half, everyone, including the players were waiting for Swat to ‚Äúgo off‚ÄĚ. ¬†And Swat did ‚Äúgo off‚ÄĚ , in their characteristic wide open game and some long range shooting. ¬†After a 27-10 run, Swat was on ‚Äúcruise‚ÄĚ and pulled off their fifth win of the season to stay 1 game behind the Hoosiers. ¬†Swat was led by David Tapia with 14 points and the Young Gunz were led by F Hernandez, A Pina and Muniz all with 4 points.

CalFoods Hooisers 46, H&R Block Savages 35
In a rematch of last seasons finalists the California Foods Hoosiers matched up with the H&R Block Savages.       The game was a back and forth match as the team alternated leads Рthe  Savages going up by 4, then the Hoosiers leading by 6, followed by the Savages leading by 2 and a following push by the Hoosiers to go up by 6 again.  Then the Hoosiers went on a 12-4 run at about the 10 minute mark of the second half.     The absence of any inside play by the Hoosiers eventually found its way to the scoreboard as H&R pulled to within 5 points with just over 2 minutes to play.  But the Savages were not able to connect on any more baskets while the Hoosiers hit 2 three pointers and holding on to an 11 point victory.     The low scoring contest was led by TJ Ellison of H&R Block with 19 points while the Hoosiers balanced scoring had Sal Durantes with 8 points, Margo Lievanos with 7 and Andy Corona, Mike Corona, and Brian Bodart with 6.
