Premier Mushrooms Shards Story of Breast Cancer Survivor

Submitted to the Williams Pioneer Review

Premier Mushrooms L.P. is a proud sponsor of the City of Hope Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

A personal connection between one breast cancer survivor and a mushroom farm executive prompted the company to launch a special campaign for breast cancer research this month. October is designated for the annual breast cancer awareness.

Premier’s vice president of marketing and sales Bob Murphy brought the idea to the company after finding out a woman at his gymnasium was battling the disease. The survivor, Amber Spence has agreed to share her story as part of the campaign.

The mushroom growers are marketing their product through area retailers; Raley’s and Bel-Air in pink tills during the month of October.

Premier Mushrooms will donate $1,000 to breast cancer research, but it is also using this promotion as a means of sharing Spence’s story and hopefully promoting awareness and providing valuable advice.

The Premier Mushroom displays at these retailers include information on how to reach the Premier website and a link to Spence’s story.

‚ÄúThere is a QR code located on the display signage and, by photographing the QR code with your Smart phone QR code reader app., it will take you right to the Premier Mushroom website and Amber‚Äôs story,‚ÄĚ said Murphy.

‚ÄúIt is a result of Amber Spence‚Äôs courage and willingness to share her cancer survival story, that we will donate $1,000 to breast cancer research in her name,‚ÄĚ said Murphy.

Spence shares in her story that it is imperative for breast cancer patients to focus their efforts on keeping the mind, spirit and soul in balance. ‚ÄúThis will enable them to feel the healing and to remain ever mindful of the need to be positive at all times,‚ÄĚ she writes. ‚ÄúThe negative feelings of doom and despair
