“This year’s Colusa Farm Show started off with a welcome rain which only slightly hampered attendance on the first day.  The sun came out on Wednesday and so did the crowds,” said Colusa Farm Show steering committee chair, David Zwald. “Over all we had a very successful show.”

Colusa Fairground CEO Susan Clark agreed with Zwald, adding that the 47th annual Colusa Farm Show saw an increase in revenue, exhibits and attractions from previous years. The show was held at the Colusa Fairgrounds early in February. “We had more than 30 new exhibit spaces, which were opened in the areas in and around our new Community Center. And there were seven exhibitors who have been part of every one in the 47 year history” she said.

Even with the rainy first day of the show that nearly 45,000 people visited the show in its three-day run. The Farm Show Steering Committee made up of 100 percent volunteers, and headed by committee chair Zwald is a hands on group. They don’t just organize the Farm Show, they are there for support throughout the event, acting as a barometer of how things are going, acknowledging long time exhibitors for their loyalty, and assisting the newest exhibitors so that they receive the maximum benefit of the Farm Show. The committee has members from a variety of backgrounds which provide the input necessary to keep the show up to date and maintain its status as one of the best in the state. They will begin next month planning the 48th edition of the Colusa Farm Show.

Colusa County Fair Board President Terry Bressler also agreed that this year’s show was exceptional, noting the appreciation for all the work done by the fairgrounds staff to insure the success of the show.

Bressler noted that it is now time to shift gears and focus on the Colusa County Fair. “We are already planning some new events, booking special exhibits and sprucing up the Fairgrounds for the four-day event scheduled June 7-10” he added. ■
