Cesar Meza and Don Povlsen coached a basketball team of 11 boys (5th/6th grades) from Williams, in the Woodland Recreational Youth Basketball League. Our small town boys won their way to the championship (not sure of the exact standings yet). Williams Yellowjackets didnāt go up against just any team in the Woodland Rec; they went up against small town rival, the Pierce Bears. Both teams played their hearts out and in the end, Williams Jackets came out victorious. The bleachers were packed with parents and supporters from both towns. Gold pom poms shook in the stands as the Jackets stole the victory.
āWe had an awesome run. I am proud of each and every one of our players.ā said Meza, āSmall town kids coming to bigger leagues, doing what they love, building their confidence and topping it off with a big win; what more can a coach ask for?ā ā
