For the first time all season the weather was perfect as the Colusa RedHawk baseball teams took the field in the 2nd Annual Baseball Alumni Game.
Alumni spanning a 27 year period returned in a good natured battle that pitted coaches against their players, friend against friend and even father vs. son.Ā Adler and Austin West returned to the field to play against the team they help their dad, Mike, coach.Ā Assistant RedHawk basketballĀ & football coach Nate Manor was there competing against his players, and at one point alum and assistant coach Mike Herrick stepped in the batterās box to face son Conner who was pitching.Ā While the crowd was decidedly behind the son, the elder Herrick laid down a perfectly executed bunt to score a run.
In the end, the aggressive base running of the alumni led by Geoff MacPherson, Brandon Rader, and Nico Valencia proved to be difference in the game.
The Annual Baseball Alumni Game is held the Saturday before Easter, with all proceeds going directly to the baseball program. ā
