Mr. Cinderfella Pageant New to Colusa County Fair

Submitted to the Williams Pioneer Review |

The Colusa County Fair will host its first ever Mr. Cinderfella Pageant on Friday, June 8. No, Mr. Cinderfella is not a misspelling; it’s a beauty pageant for the young men. It’s a competition where the young men get together and show off their “beauty”, and the term “beauty” is used very lightly.

Although, the pageant isn’t as silly as it seems. The contestants will compete in a lip-syncing musical act, while providing an opportunity to enhance personal development in the areas of poise – in heels, self-confidence and communication skills – provided their voices don’t crack, and good sportsmanship. All while performing in front of family, friends, and fair guests.

The pageant, which is under the direction of the Junior Fair Board, is open only to male contestants from the five Colusa County High Schools. Eligible contestants must be a incoming sophomore or a 2012 graduate.

Entry deadline is on April 23, 2012, at 5:00 p.m. and limited to the first 15 applicants, with only three entries allowed per school.

“The pageant is designed not only to increase the Friday night fair attendance, but to also provide support for area schools.” Said pageant committee co-chair Mackenzie Bressler.

The winner of the pageant will receive a $1,000 donation in his name made out to a school recognized group, club or organization from his school.

The winner will also be presented with a variety of gifts from sponsoring area businesses, groups or individuals; in addition, to a traveling trophy to be on display at his school during his reigning year.

The Junior Fair Board pageant committee includes co-chairs Mackenzie Bressler and Allison Costa as well as pageant committee members Mattie Myers, Lane Cervantes, Russell Jones, Alison Ornbaun and Samatha Murphy.

Bressler said enthusiasm for the pageant is growing.

“We are hoping that it proves to be such a success this year, that it will continue to grow into an annual pageant,” said Bressler.

There is a $20.12 entry fee which must accompany the completed application. All entries must be submitted at the Colusa County Fair office by April 23, at 5:00 p.m.

Applications and pageant rules and guidelines are posted at www.colusacountyfair.com.
