WPR Report
COLUSA, set to become the second feature film by director Norm Hunter, placed second among hundreds of entries and garnered rave reviews from film industry executives at the Producers Guild of America ProShow Competition. The competition concluded Sunday after a 3-day event at the PGA’s annual Produced By Conference (PBC) on the Sony Pictures Studio lot in Los Angeles, CA.

“This was very encouraging and indicates that our film project is on track to become a box office success,” said Hunter. “I am feeling very positive as we move closer to production.”

The ProShow provides a unique chance for foreign and domestic independent producers to realize their vision. The ten finalists participated in one-on-one meetings with some of Hollywood’s top financiers, studios and production companies. In attendance in at this year’s Produced By Conference were some of Hollywood’s most prolific producers including Christopher Nolan, producer and director of the recent Batman trilogy and Brian Grazer, producer of A Beautiful Mind and Apollo 13, amongst many others.

COLUSA, in particular, was well received by a large group of potential partners who have requested the script, including Mark Ordesky (Lord of the Rings trilogy, etc.), Lionsgate Entertainment (The Hunger Games, Twilight, etc.), and others.

COLUSA is the story of a young pilot in the Sacramento Valley who struggles to move past the loss of his brother and take on a family rival before he can follow his dreams.

Norm Hunter’s last film was the family movie Her Best Move, which was distributed by MGM and The Disney Channel and won many film festival awards. His production company, Summertime Films, is developing a slate of mainstream, family-friendly films for American and international audiences. ■
