HOT Weather for Northern California into next week…

A strong high pressure will build over Northern California during the next several days and will continue over the weekend. This high pressure period will result in a prolonged period of hot temperatures for the region that will last well into next week.

Forecasters indicate the hottest days will be Friday and Saturday when the highs in the Central Valley are expected to range from 105 to 110 with temperatures in the mountains in the 80’s and 90’s. In the evenings the minimum temperatures will also be warm with the valley in the lower 70’s.

It is important to stay safe during these warm summer months and to remember these safety tips:

  1. Drink Plenty of Water
  2. Avoid strenuous activities during the hottest part of the day
  3. Never leave children or pets unattended in a vehicle
  4. Wear light weight and light colored clothing

PG&E Customers are urged to begin reducing their energy use today through August 12th, particularly between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m., when demand is highest. Customers should follow these simple conservation tips:

  • Adjust your thermostat to 78 degrees or higher or turn it off if you will be away from home. Use a fan instead of air conditioning, when possible.
  • Draw drapes and turn off unnecessary lighting.
  • Keep refrigerator full (with bottles of water if nothing else) and unplug the second refrigerator.
  • Avoid using electrical appliances and devices. Put off tasks like vacuuming, laundry, dish washing and computer time until after dinner (6 p.m.).
  • Set your pool pump to run overnight instead of during the day.
