Vendors and customers were disappointed, and shocked to learn last November that the 2011 Holiday Faire at the Colusa County Fairgrounds would likely be the last.
The 44th District Agricultural Association (44th DAA) board (Colusa County Fair Board) had decided to pull the plug on the show.Ā
Notices were handed out to vendors informing them that the 44th DAA would no long put on the event.Ā
The craft show held the weekend prior to Thanksgiving for more than 25 years wouldnāt be back.Ā
A number of folks were reported to show interest in keeping the show going, but in the end, the winning bid came from Professional Events Services, a security company owned by Don and Carolan Meek.Ā
Carolan Meek is president and CEO of Professional Events Services. She is also the former Colusa County Fair CEO. She said she really wanted to see the event continue and she and her husband thought it was worth placing a bid.Ā
āIāve had a lot of experience running the show,ā she said. āIt is a natural fit for me to take on the project.āĀ
Meek said she has been contacting longtime exhibitors to let them know; āThe show will go on.āĀ
āIāve had a great response,ā said Meek. āWeāve invited back previous vendors, and we are honoring existing contracts.āĀ
āWe really want to continue the tradition and save this popular holiday tradition for our community.āĀ
