Tragic Accident Claims Two Arbuckle Residents

At approximately 10:20 a.m. on October 2, 2012, Arbuckle Fire Department was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident on Hillgate Road, in Arbuckle; just west of Whiskey Creek road, involving a pickup truck versus a nut bankout wagon.

According to the California Highway Patrol, Travis Green, 19 of Arbuckle was in his 1991 Ford F250 heading eastbound on Hillgate Road when Jaime Paez-Gomez, 36 of Arbuckle entered the roadway, failing to yield to on coming traffic, in a 2010 Thomas Nut Bankout causing the two vehicles to collide.

After the initial impact, the Nut Bankout spun counterclockwise ejecting Paez-Gomez; while Green continued out of control for approximately 100 yards before coming to rest overturned on the north side of Hillgate Road.

Both Green and Paez-Gomez suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene. The devastating news impacted the small farming community as both Green and
Paez-Gomez were widely known throughout the community.

Just several days earlier, the community was impacted by the death of 17-year-old Jordan Hollis who was killed in a single automobile accident on Lonestar Road on Friday,
September 21, 2012.

The Travis Green memorial is scheduled for Monday, October 15, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at the Arbuckle Fire Hall.

The Jamie Paez-Gomez memorial was held on Tuesday, October 9th at 10:00 a.m. at the Arbuckle Catholic Church. ■
