Free Christmas tree disposal offered
Residents of Colusa have the opportunity to recycle their Christmas trees through Jan. 6. Participants must drop off trees with stands and nails removed behind the Boy Scout Cabin at Will S. Green Park, 901 Parkhill St. For more information, contact Lani at 458-5890, Ext. 101.

The Catholic Ladies Relief Society will be holding their Annual Bridge-Whist-Pinochle Card Party and Luncheon. $15. Saturday, January 14, 2012. 11:30 a.m. St. Bernadette’s Hall, 743 Ware Ave, Colusa, Ca. Reservations Call: Marge Wallace 476-2051. Rose Buria: 458-8583. Vicki Stegal: 458-8009.

Photos being accepted for show
Applications are being accepted to display photography at the Colusa County Arts Council show scheduled for Jan. 21. The show, titled “Life through a Lens,” will be held at the Scout Cabin at Will S. Green Park in Colusa. There are amateur — beginner and advanced — and professional divisions. Categories include landscapes/nature, macro, special effects, architectural, still life, people and photojournalism. Each category is divided into black & white and color. Photos submitted must have been taken within the last two years. Photographers 18 or older from Colusa, Glenn, Butte, Sutter, Yuba and Sacramento counties are eligible. Colusa firefighters Crab feed & dance
The Colusa Firefighters Association will hold its annual Crab Feed & Dance on January 21, 2012. Social hour begins with No-host Cocktails at 5:30 PM, Dinner begins at 6:30 PM. Come enjoy Crab, Steak, Coleslaw, Beans, and Bread. There is fun for everyone with raffle and auction items, dancing, good food and much more. Must be 21 or older to attend. Cost is $40 per person, before January 17th. Tickets after January 17th are $45 and available at the door. Tickets can be purchased at the Colusa City Fire Department, 750 Market Street, Colusa or from any Colusa City Firefighter.

Sacred Heart Sodality Card Party
Sacred Heart Sodality of Maxwell will hold their annual card party on Saturday February 4, 2012, 11:30 am at the Maxwell Elementary School Multi-Purpose Room located at 146 North Street in Maxwell. For a $12.00 donation participants will enjoy a delicious salad bar luncheon followed by an afternoon of playing bridge , whist or pinochle. In addition to many prizes to be awarded to high point card winners there will be a raffle with lovely prizes. Partners are encouraged! Farm Show CSU Chico Alumni Breakfast
The 10th annual CSU Chico Alumni Breakfast will be held February, 8th at the Colusa Farm Show. Starting at 7 a.m. in St. Bernadette’s Hall, 745 Ware St., Colusa, sponsored by CSU, Chico College of Agriculture, California Ag Leadership Program and Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity. Sandra Schubert, undersecretary of the California Department of Food and Agriculture, will be the guest speaker. Tickets are $25 and can be reserved by contacting Leslie Santos at 898-6343

 City of Colusa accepting applications for vacancies on Utilities Committee
The committee is responsible for reviewing and making recommendations to the City Council on public utility issues.  The committee also provides oversight to ensure public utility funds are accounted for accurately and are properly spent. In addition to advising the City Council on utility issues, the committee is tasked with educating the public regarding utility planning, rates and other matters relating to utilities owned or operated by the city , including water and wastewater. The committee meets quarterly at 6 p.m. at City Hall with Special Meetings held on an “as-needed” basis. All interested parties are encouraged to apply Monday-Thursday from 7:30 am to 5:00 pm at City Hall 425 Webster Street

Planning panel positions open
The Colusa County Board of Supervisors will make appointments to all five seats on the Colusa County Planning Commission at their regular meeting on Jan. 24 in the board chambers, 547 Market St., Colusa. Electronic Waste Drop-off
Recology and the City of Williams offer free monthly drop-off of electronic waste such as TVs, household batteries, fluorescent tubes and computers, from 9am to 2pm. The event is held the first Thursday of every month at the City of Williams Public Works Yard at 735 7th Street. There is a limit of 5 TVs or computers per visit. For more information call 530 473 2519. Please only drop off items during business hours.
