Funds Still Needed to Complete Project

In 2010 the Williams Cemetery embarked on a project to replace the old rusted fence that was in need of desperate repair. The fence not only serves as a protective embrace for the cemetery it also functions as apart of the rural landscaping.

“We knew that we could never replace the fence out of our general funds with the cemetery.” said cemetery manger Dawn Nissen, “We approached the public to help us out with the fence project.”

Currently there is approximately a few hundred feet of fence and several stone pillars in place; however, Nissen promises the public will see advancement and panels being installed in the sprint.

The Cemetery opted out of purchasing pre fabricated fencing due to the low grade quality and high cost.

“We wanted a fence that was going to last 100 or more years, and be easy to fix and replace.” Said Nissen.

The cemetery has raised nearly $25,000 and a total of 127 donations. At two-thirds the way completed, the organization is about $10,000 from finishing the project.

“We purchase the steel for the panels and Morning Star graciously donated man-hours on assembling and welding the panels together.” Said Nissen, “We then have each panel powder coated to prevent rust and ensure longevity.”

Anyone interested in contributing to the completion of the project can become an individual panel sponsor for $300; however any donation is accepted as well as memorial contributions said Nissen.

Donations can be sent to Williams Cemetary Fence Fund, PO Box 843, Williams, California 95987. ■
