Pioneer Day a Success!

Dear Editor:

Another Pioneer Day has come and gone and it’s time to thank all the people that made it such a success.

To say it takes a village is an understatement and sometimes it takes more than one village to make it happen.

This year we wanted to thank members of our area for the service to our country and a big thank you goes out to Ronnie Azevedo from Maxwell and Bill Tanner from Colusa for arranging the vehicles, and for recruiting our veterans. We also want to thank Williams resident Steve Corbin for asking the Patriot Guard to act as the color guard. We owe them all a big thank you for a job well done and it will be a long time before a more impressive display will come close to matching that one.

Angela Fulcher has been the parade organizer for both the Pioneer Day and Festival of Lights Parade for the past few years and she has done an excellent job. Her ability to organize and coordinate has been a huge asset to the success of all of our functions.

Lloyd Green Jr. was in charge of the booths for the vendors and even though this was the first year we had it downtown I heard a lot of great compliments.

We want to thank also the Williams Public Works, The Williams Police Department and the Williams Fire Department for the cooperation and coordination with the events of the day. We also owe a big thanks to the folks who made sure the American flags were part of the celebration, those who acted as our judges and our esteemed parade announcer, Bruce Rolen.

This year we had more entries than ever before in recent history and we thank each and every one of you with a special thank you to Gloria Estrada for being our grand marshal of the day.

A HUGE thank you goes to Morning Star Packing for the magnificent fireworks display to finish off the day’s event. I was told by people that the display far out did the ones of Monterey and surrounding cities.

The dance was sponsored this year by Louis Cairo’s and Andi Armstrong and was again a big success.

The biggest thank you of all goes to our president, Andi Armstrong, who along with trying to juggle a home life, her businesses, being the president of the Williams School Board, and a critical part of the Every fifteen Minute program, managed to again, pull it all together and organize, delegate, beg and promote to people from as far away as Oklahoma, all the things that made the event such an event to remember. She is the driving force behind the CBW machine and should be commended on all her hard work.

We hope you enjoyed the events of the day and perhaps, just perhaps, you will want to get involved and help next year!
