3+ Club Activities 2012
3+ Club Activities 2012

This year seven hundred sixty-one students throughout Colusa County have been invited to participate in the 15th Annual Colusa County Office of Education Scholastic Appreciation Day at the Colusa County Fair. Known as the 3+ Club, this event honors all students throughout Colusa County, sixth through twelfth grades, who have maintained a 3.0 or better grade point average with no D or F grade for the entire school year.

3+ Club students are admitted to the Fair, free of charge, on Thursday, June 6th. Upon entering the fair, students are greeted by school administrators, teachers, volunteer members of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International (active and retired teachers) and members of Torchbearer Gamma Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi. Once the students have registered they are given a gift bag containing coupons for a corn dog and a soft serve ice cream cone from the Fair vendors. Students are invited to choose a prize from the table of gifts purchased from funds donated by local merchants and members of the community.

In addition, all 3+ Club students attending the Fair have the opportunity to win “Special Prizes” during the drawings which are ongoing throughout the event. These prizes include items such as bicycles, tents & sleeping bags, portable DVD players, and digital cameras; glider plane rides, trips to special places in San Francisco, Sacramento, and Fort Bragg, plus gasoline cards to help defray the cost of gas; and more.

At 7:00 PM the names of ALL 3+ Club students attending the Fair will be put back in the tumbler for the Grand Prize Drawing of a laptop computer.

“We have been pleased to see the number of qualifying students increase over the years. This year, we have one hundred fifty students more than last year. This shows that our students are taking education seriously,” said Irmalee Schumacher, 3+ Club Coordinator.
