On Friday, October 4th, the Williams Area California Highway patrol arrested two suspects on multiple drug and weapon charges. Seizing an estimated 300 lbs. of marijuana.
Javier Huerta, 47 of San Pablo, California and Pedro Berrelleza-Carrillo, 44 of Antioch, California were arrested after a California Highway Patrol Officer conducted an enforcement stop near Husted Road on Interstate 5. The officer made the stop after having experiencing an overwhelming smell of marijuana coming from the SUV.
According to the California Highway Patrol, as the officer approached the SUV, he could see large trash bags stacked from the floor to the headliner in the backseat and cargo area.
In those bags was an estimated $750,000 street value of marijuana.
The Colusa County Narcotics Task Force responded to the scene to aid with the search and discovered a loaded .38 caliber handgun found under the rear seat.
Both the Driver, Huerta, and passenger, Berrelleza-Carrillo were booked into the Colusa County Jail.
