Glenn Medical Center Awarded USDA Rural Development Load for Construction of New Facility

On September 24, 2013, UDSA Rural Development obligated $14.5 million in the form of a direct loan to Glenn Medical Center, Inc. The funding will be used for the construction of a new medical facility in Willows, California, improving the region’s access to critical medical care and related support services.

USDA Rural Development’s Community Facilities Program helps finance essential community facilities for the public use in rural areas. These facilities include assisted-living facilities, child care centers, hospitals, medical clinics, fire and rescue stations, police stations, community centers, public buildings and transportation. Through this program, USDA ensures that such facilities are available to all rural residents. Throughout the years, Rural Development’s Community Facilities Program has been a vital funding source for many rural communities.

Glenn Medical Center is a local not-for-profit hospital in operation since 1949. The Medical Center has grown significantly the past few years and now offers many new and needed health care services including: Cardiology, Dermatology, Neurology, General Surgery, Gynecology, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Podiatry and Sleep Medicine. These specialties along with a Rural Health Center, Family Care Clinic and Glenn Family Medical Group, result in greater convenience and outstanding health care service for Glenn County and surrounding area residents.K
