NEWSPAPER PUBLISHED WEEKLY ON THURSDAY

Handmade Quilt Featured at Grimes Dinner

IMG_0968Pictured here are members of the Grimes Ladies Aid Society holding the handmade quilt that will be raffled at the Society’s annual Dinner & Bazaar on November 2 at Grand Island Elementary School in Grimes.

The quilt was made this year by Jane Hardy. Raffle tickets will be available at the event.

Dinner service begins at 5 p.m. and will feature ‘all-you-can-eat’ turkey and ham with all of the trimmings. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children aged six-12. Children five and under are free. There are also a variety of crafts and prizes sponsored by the society members as well as area merchants and groups.

The Grimes Ladies Aid was organized in 1901. This annual event draws large numbers of guests countywide and from surrounding counties. It is the women’s annual fundraiser with the profits benefiting the maintenance of the historic Community Church (circa 1875) in Grimes, and also supporting Grand Island Elementary School and other community needs.
