Christmas Tyme in Colusa

Soon the streets will be filled with Christmas cheer in downtown Colusa for its annual Christmas Tyme in Colusa event to be held on Friday, December 6th, 2013 from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm.

The theme for this year is aptly named, Santa’s Toyland Village, given by Mary Lou Kittle whose idea was chosen when the community was encouraged to submit suggestions. She received a $100 gift certificate to Chung Sun Market.

This year’s event is to include street vendors that will offer food, crafts, and goodies. Tree lighting ceremony at the Colusa County Courthouse, A petting zoo located at the Colusa Motor Sales parking lot. Face Painting. Stardust Dance will perform a special Christmas recital and a special tractor decorating contest judged with North State Assemblyman Dan Logue.

The Colusa County Chamber of Commerce will host its ‘Decorate your Window’ contest with local merchants.

There will even be an appearance from Santa Claus, with the Colusa City Fire Department.

A Christmas Tree Raffle, with Ornaments and lights will be held that evening; although the raffle is FREE, participants are asked to bring one can food item in exchange for one raffle ticket – one ticket per family. Ornaments and lights have been donated by All Star Realty, Alma Hickel, Colusa Lions Club, Omega Nu, and the Beta Sigma Phi – Torch Bearer Gamma.

The list of event sponsors includes Griff’s Feed & Seed, Superior Tire, Colusa Rotary, Reading Oil, John Rogers Farming, Beeler Tractor, La Cabana Mexican Food, Ron Griffith, Davis Ranches, Colusa Industrial Properties, and Kaelin Farming.

Applications are available on the City of Colusa Website www.cityofcolusa.com.
