Lloyd Henry Durst (1925-2013)

Durst, LloydLloyd Henry Durst passed away October 2nd, 2013 at Colusa Regional Medical Center.

Lloyd was born in Woodland, CA on April 13th, 1925 to parents John and Emma Durst.

Lloyd was raised in Grimes, CA and graduated from the Grimes Grand Island elementary school.

He then attended and graduated from Pierce High School in Arbuckle. After school he served in the Army Air Force as a navigator from 1943 to 1945. While in the military he attended  Montana University in the Aviation Cadet program. Lloyd returned to Grimes in 1946 to farm with his father and then with his brother in 1947. He was very active in his community serving as a scout master for 33 yrs. And a troop committee chairman for 17 yrs. Lloyd also served with the Soil Conservation District for 25 yrs. and as a volunteer fireman for the Grand Island Fire Dept. for 20 yrs.

He enjoyed traveling, hunting, Watching sports, flying, and going to his summer home in Chester.

He is survived by his loving wife Billiejean Durst; Brother Fred Durst; sister Nancy Naglely; Many Nieces and  Nephews; Great Nieces and Nephews; and Great- Great Nieces and Nephews.

He was preceded in death his brother Robert Durst and sister Dorothy Mengali.

Visitation will be held at McNary-Moore Funeral Chapel from 5:00-8:00p.m. on Wednesday, October 9th. Services will be held at the McNary-Moore Chapel at 11:00a.m. Thursday October 10th. Burial will follow at the Grand Island Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in Lloyd’s  name to the Grimes Civic Organization or the Grand Island Fire Department.
