Over the past several years, it has been an interesting journey working in the Newspaper Industry – seeing large corporations changing and many newspapers go out of business, has been somewhat frightening.
Time and Time again, I cannot stress enough that the Williams Pioneer Review will always be here.
Next year, we will celebrate seven years in print.
What makes the Williams Pioneer Review different from many newspapers is that we are Locally Owned. There isn’t a corporate cloud hovering over us, and making decisions on how the newspaper should be ran. I follow the lead of what our community needs from a news publication, and build from it.
With some recent changes locally, I took the opportunity to re adjust our business model to aim it in a different direction.
In the beginning when our founder Andrea Moore printed the first edition, the newspaper was to focus on our community, the positive news within our community, and to fill the gap between all other media outlets.
When I purchased the publication three years ago, it was more than just a business. It was about our community. I made a commitment to our community, when I became the publisher of this newspaper, even if that meant taking on a second job just make sure that our pages were printed.
Sometimes when you make changes, it feels like you are building from the ground up. This time, I am just making a slight remodel, but the foundation is still there.
We will be available FREE at our distribution locations and online. In addition, we offer subscriptions at cost to those who would like to ensure they receive a copy of each issue.
One of those changes is most noticeable by our printed size. In October of last year, we went to a magazine format after a personal tragedy. This format was meant to be temporary; however due a positive response we were inclined to keep it that way. That was until the cost of printing was way above our head, and we needed more room for more content.
I look forward to growth these next few months, as I will be introducing a local writer to our team. We have some great columnists, and I look forward to providing more community content.
I always look to our readers for suggestions and tips, please give me a call at (530) 473-5652 and I gladly listen to your comments, insight on our community, thoughts our publication or share news tips with us. After all, we do provide the largest community calendar/brief information; and we display it all on our front page.
Lastly, this publication could not made be possible without the generous support of our local businesses who advertise with us; a few have been with us since the beginning, and I cannot express my gratitude enough. Our advertisers ensure that our pages can be printed and we can continue to write and distribute important information about our community. Please, take a moment to recognize our advertisers when you frequent their businesses – a simple ‘Thank You for Supporting the Williams Pioneer Review’ will do the trick.
If you have any questions, submissions, questions on advertising, or would like to get involved in our publication, please give me a call at (530) 473-5652 or send me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thank You for being a valued reader!
