Roads were safer this holiday season as the California Highway Patrol reported a slight decline in DUI Arrests during the departments statewide Mass Enforcement Periods (MEP) thought on Christmas and during the New Year’s celebration.
A decrease in the amount of DUI related arrests was reported by the Northern CHP District. Eight DUI arrests were made during the Christmas MEP – down from the 33 made in 2012. During the New Year’s MEP, the number remained the same from 2012 with a total of 10 DUI arrests made.
Across the state, the California Highway Patrol reported a total of 221 DUI arrests were made during the statewide Christmas MEP – down from the 1,170 made in 2012. As for the statewide New Year’s MEP, a total of 324 DUI arrests were made – down from 334 in 2012.
