Students at Williams Elementary School celebrated Dr. Seuss’s birthday by participating in Read Across America on Monday. The transitional kinderg√§rtners had guest readers visit their classroom. Students wore their pajamas in anticipation of a fun-filled day of book reading and storytelling.

029“The students look forward to this day and really enjoy hearing the stories,” said Barbara Mayberry, TK teacher. “We invite parents, school employees, and members of our community to come in and read, and we couldn’t do it without their support.”

This year’s readers included Mark Marshall, Jonathan DeLacy, Sarah Martinez, John Felix, Taylor Wright, Dixie LaGrande, and Carolanne White.

Read Across America is an annual reading motivation and awareness pro-gram that calls for every child in every community to celebrate reading on the birthday of beloved children’s author Dr. Seuss.
