A Colusa local is the new owner of a business that has been a fixture of the Colusa community since 2011.
Diane Shuman purchased Tommy’s Market Street Grill from Tom and Ashley Indrieri, the previous proprietors and her goal is simple: expand the menu to offer healthier alternatives, but continue the tradition of Tommy’s by offering great food with a comfortable family atmosphere for breakfast and lunch.
“Tommy has built an awesome reputation, developed a great menu and has hired some great employees,” said Schuman, “and I get to build and expand on what he already has created.”
After Schuman’s contract was up at her employer, she began looking for a new opportunity.
“I heard that Tommy’s was for sale and sought the opportunity,” said Schuman, “I met with Tommy and Ashely, and fell in love with the place.”
Schuman always believed that she would open a restaurant.
“For years it has been at the back of my mind,” said Schuman, “I have a passion for cooking and entertain.”
Renamed the ‘Market Street Grill’, the establishment has been known for its hearty breakfasts and burgers to classics, soups, and sandwiches; however, Schuman will be adding additional salad choices, expanded daily specials and fresh baked pies and desserts and a new kids menu.
“Our focus will always be on freshness,” added Schuman.
The Market Street Grill will continue to offer catering services, and will be making appearances out at the Arbuckle Farmers Market.
“Tommy built a great business, and we will continue to be involved in the many things he has created,” added Schuman.
Although not usually open for dinner, Schuman anticipates they will be open during the evenings during special events and holidays.
“We had a wonderful turnout on our special Valentine’s Day dinner,” added Schuman.
Tommy and Ashely have been a great support, helping Schuman with restaurant advice and lending a helping hand.
“Tommy will be here helping out until the end of June,” said Schuman, “It has been a pleasure working with Tommy and Ashely, and I would like to thank them for their support.”
Additionally, Schuman expressed her thanks to the community who’ve been supportive throughout the changeover process.
