The Friends of the Colusa County Animal Shelter (FOCCAS) held a Bowling Fund-raiser on Saturday, March 1st 2014 at the Riverside Bowling Alley in Colusa.
The aspiring annual event raised over $1,200 for the non-profit organization, FOCCAS that provides many needed services to the animals from the Colusa County Animal Shelter.
“FOCCAS gives the animal’s proper medical treatments that they need,” said event volunteer Kyle Miller, “The animals also spayed or neutered while helping the animals find wonderful homes.”
The event was organized by Ashely Troughton.
FOCCAS started in 2004 by two women who wanted to address the unsafe, and unsanitary conditions that existed in the county animal shelter. Since then, the group has assisted the shelter increase pet adoptions through outreach programs, provide the community education on animal care and continue improvements on the shelter while implementing a spay and neuter program.
The event was made possible through Riverside Lanes; owner Mike Wilkinson who honored the organization to host the event at the facility.
“We would also like to thank Chris Jacobs for taking care of the animals,” said Miller, “and to everyone that donated money, raffle prizes and participated in the event.”
FOCCAS is a non-profit organization that relies on volunteers, generous donations, and fundraising events such as the one held on Saturday.
