
Authorities have arrested a man they say who is connected with two armed robberies in Colusa County.
On, Tuesday April 8, 2014 at approximately 11:00 p.m. the Williams Police Department was dispatched to a reported robbery at the Shell Station at Vann E Street in Williams.
The suspect entered the convenience store brandished a handgun, threatened the clerk and demanded money. The clerk cooperated with the suspect, giving the suspect an undisclosed amount of cash.
The suspect then fled the store, southbound on Vann Street. The area was checked for the suspect and evidence was collected by the Williams Police Department, California Highway Patrol and the Colusa County Sheriff’s Office with no results at that time.
The suspect was described as a Hispanic male wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants, carrying a red & black back-pack and armed with a handgun.
As the investigation continued, it was determined a similar robbery with a similar suspect description occurred in Colusa at the Quick Serve Market on Market Street at 9:58 PM the same evening.
Through a joint investigation between the Williams Police Department and the Colusa City Police Department, it was determined Mark Obed Sosa, 20, of Colusa allegedly committed these robberies.
Authorities arrested Sosa on April 9, 2014 at approximately 1:45 pm at the Metro PCS store on Bridge and Fremont Streets in Colusa.
He was found in possession of a handgun and an undetermined amount of cash.
Sosa was booked into the Colusa County Jail on $100,000 bail.
Though further investigation, additional property that had been taken from the Colusa robbery was located at a residence in Williams.
This evidence was recovered and turned over to the Colusa Police Department.
