Nothing says summer in Colusa County quite like the arrival of the seasonal farmers’ markets. Whether you crave fresh cucumber, and squash, mouth watering apricots, or tomatoes plucked ripe from the vine, you’re certain to enjoy the bounty of offerings at the Arbuckle and Colusa Farmers Markets; now open for the season.
On Wednesday, June 19, 2014, the Arbuckle Certified Farmers Market kicked off the summer season with about 14 vendors participating. The market featured fresh eggs, olive oil, apricots, fresh vegetables, homemade cookies and soaps, and locally grown pecans, wood art, and fresh flowers.
“Were off to a great start.” said Mary Fahey of the Arbuckle Revitalization Committee.
Later the season the Arbuckle Farmers Market will also feature a cooking demonstration; additionally the Market Street Grill from Colusa will return weekly with a delicious menu for Wednesday night dinner.

Following the opening of Arbuckle’s Farmers Market, on Thursday, June 20, 2014, the Colusa Farmers Market hosted 12 vendors with fresh vegetables, homemade cookies and soaps, locally grown pecans, wood art, fresh flowers, information booths and ‘Jorge’s Dogs and Churro’s’.
“We have a great season ahead of us,” said Lynda Reynolds, the Colusa Farmers Market Manger, “this year we’ve added Melissa Baikie-Rick to the management team. She has lots of great ideas.”
The Colusa Farmers Market is the only market that currently accepts W.I.C. Vouchers, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits and accepts CalFresh benefits.
