Fatal Crashes Up, DUI arrests down for Memorial Day Weekend Statewide

Five individuals were arrested in Colusa County over the 2014 Memorial Day weekend on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.

According to the Colusa County Sheriff’s Department arrest records, DUI arrests were down slightly from the 2013 Memorial Day weekend, countywide.

The arrests were made by officers from Williams, Colusa, the California Highway Patrol and the Colusa County Sheriff’s Department during the California Highway Patrol’s Maximum Enforcement Period, which began Friday,

May 23, 2014 at 6:01 p.m. through Monday, May 26, at 11:59 p.m.

The California Highway Patrol reported a slight decrease of DUI arrests made statewide, with a total of 1,111 DUI arrests made during the 2014 maximum enforcement period.

The total number of fatalities statewide during the 2014 Memorial Day weekend increased to 18; eight of those fatalities were not wearing a seatbelt. 
