According to authorities, the vehicle was driven by 38-year-old Garrett Coughlin, of Redwood Valley.
“It had taken some distance before Coughlin pulled his vehicle over,” said Sgt. Neil Pearson of the Colusa County Sheriff Department, “the officer attempted to make contact with the driver, when the driver took off.”
At speeds up to 95 MPH, Coughlin, led deputies on a chase through the community of Colusa, exiting west on Highway 20 towards Williams.
Colusa City Police joined the chase, followed by the Williams Police Department, who’ve deployed a spike-strip at San Jose Road, just west of Williams.
“Three of the four tires were punctured,” said Pearson.
Coughlin’s vehicle came to a stop at Freshwater Road on Highway 20, where he fled the vehicle.
“Coughlin was quickly caught, and taken into custody,” said Pearson.
Coughlin was arrested and booked into the Colusa County Jail on two warrants, in addition to felony evading police without regard for safety, and a misdemeanor obstructing police.
A 31-year-old passenger, Chelsea Morgan was also arrested on two warrants, in addition to a misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance and being under the influence of a controlled substance.
There were no injuries, as a result of the chase. ■
