Arbuckle resident, Ana Cristina Rodriguez Paez, 28, remains missing after reportedly falling into an irrigation canal just south of Grimes.

According to a press release from the Colusa County Sheriff’s Department, on Tuesday, July 15, 2014, just after 9:00 p.m., Sheriff Deputies responded to a call where a woman had fallen into the canal and was unable to be located.

The Colusa County Sheriffs Deputies arrived on the scene with the Sacramento River Fire Department, and immediately began to search for Paez.

The Meridian Fire Department also assisted with the use of their boat, and the California High-way Patrol provided a helicopter for air support.

In the area of Highway 45 and Fruchtenicht Road, Paez was with her husband and their small child where they were fishing along the canal at Wilkins Slough Road near the Reclamation District Pump.

During that time, the husband reportedly left with their small child in an effort to find a better fishing spot.

When the husband returned about five minutes later, he discovered his wife missing.

Emergency personnel search endlessly for Paez.

Search efforts were called off just after midnight, and were transitioned to recovery search as the incident appeared to be a possible drowning.

On Wednesday, July 16, the Colusa County Sheriff’s Dive Team, continued the search for Paez. An extensive air search of the area was also conducted, however Paez remains missing at this time.

Paez’s fishing pole and one of her shoes were retrieved from the area of where she was last seen by sheriff and fire personnel.

Paez is being considered a missing person at this time until her whereabouts are determined.

Update: As of 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 17, 2014, Paez remains missing and the Colusa County Sheriffs Department continues the search for the missing person.

Anyone having information to this missing person’s case, or the whereabouts of Paez, is urged to contact the Colusa County Sheriff’s Office at (530) 458-0200.
