On Saturday, July 19 2014, several dozen community members gathered out at Davis Ranches on Sycamore Slough Road for an opportunity to harvest a wide variety of fruits and citrus, while discussing important topics happening within their gardens.

Guest speakers included Richard Hoenisch who discussed invasive insects including the Brown Marmorated Stink Bug, and the Bagrada Bug; Master Gardener, Cynthia White discussed how to cook with fruit, and serving a peach curried soup and a spinach nectarine salad; Diane Vafis discussed water conservation; and Gerri Hernandez discussed drip and micro irrigation techniques.

“The Harvest Day went great!” said Master Gardener of Colusa County Coordinator, Gerri Hernandez, “It was our first one and we can’t wait to do it again.”
