Faith Lutheran Luncheon to benefit Blue Star Moms

For the past two years, Faith Lutheran Church in Marysville has hosted a luncheon to benefit other community groups.

They will host the 3rd annual luncheon in August with the proceeds benefiting the Faith Lutheran ministries and the Blue Star Moms, a local group that provides support for active duty service personnel from Yuba, Sutter & Colusa Counties.

Faith Lutheran Church at 1000 D Street in Marysville will host its Tip Your Hat Luncheon (formerly Crazy Hat Luncheon) at 11:30 am – 1pm on August 16 at the church’s fellowship hall.

The local chapter of Blue Star Moms was started in January of 2007. The “moms” pack and send free care packages to troops stationed away from home. Contents are donated by local businesses and individuals from area communities.

They also provide free of charge “mommy and daddy” dolls to children needing help dealing with the separation of their military parent. The dolls bear the likeness of the parent, and the group has to date made and distributed hundreds of the dolls.

The luncheon tickets are available for $10 each and can be purchased at the church office. For more information call (530) 743-1539.

The Williams Pioneer Review has a small staff of one, covering all of Colusa County; but we’re proud to have the assistance of a large army of community contributors to extend our range and reach.
