In conjunction with the National Night Out, the Williams Public Safety Night gives the citizens of Williams the opportunity to come out and heighten crime and drug prevention awareness within their communities, said Williams Police Sargent, Ed Anderson.
A special community event will be hosted in front of the Williams Fire Department on 8th Street where the community can engage with local emergency services.
“There will be a demonstration from the Williams PD K9 unit, information booths, and a display of fire trucks and police vehicles,” said Anderson, “there will also be free hot dogs for attendees.”
Across the nation, communities are asked to lock their doors, and turn on their outside lights and spend an evening with neighbors.
The City of Colusa will participate in the National Night Out as neighborhoods will be encouraged to host block parties, cookouts, ice cream socials, and potlucks, said Colusa County Chamber Board Member, Stephanie Ponciano.
This is the second year the City of Colusa has encouraged its citizens to get out and get to know its neighbors.
“We need to be aware of our surroundings and be good neighbors,” said Ponciano, “It is time to turn off your TV and go outside.”
