Williams Dog Grooming Shop Celebrates Success

At the age of 14, Jorge Velazquez began working at the Williams Veterinary Clinic where he discovered his love for animals, especially dogs.

“I have always had dogs growing up,” said Velazquez, “but I had a knack at making dogs feel comfortable, some even called me the dog whisper.”

For nearly 18 years, Velazquez worked as a Veterinary Technician in the Williams and Chico area.

Working with the animals and their caretakers, Velazquez saw a great need for Colusa County with a professional Dog Groomer.

“I would have clients come in and ask where they could get their dog groomed,” said Velazquez.

That is when he decided to open J.V.’s Grooming.

Located out of his home in Williams, J.V.’s Grooming celebrated its success with a Chamber of Commerce Ribbon Cutting on Monday, July 28, 2014.

Dozens of family members, friends, clients, and chamber members attended at Velazquez’s home where his business is operated from.

“I am very grateful that the City of Williams was willing to work with me on creating a space for my business,” said Velazquez, “I believe that my years of experience and veterinary background helped give the city confidence that I was here to succeed.”

Located in Velazquez’s garage is his grooming center. Professionally setup, the clean and inviting area helps keeps pets and their owners at ease.

“I designed my space so that any size dog with feel comfortable,” said Velazquez.

From teacup chihuahuas to large mastiffs, J.V.’s Grooming offers a full line of services that include medicated bathing for fleas and ticks, styling clips, nail trimming, anal gland expression, and ear cleanings.

Do you have a dog, which always leaves lots of hair behind? J.V.’s Grooming also offers deshedding services to help keep you and your pet happy during heavy shedding seasons.

Although J.V.’s Grooming does offer services for cats, Velazquez said, dogs are his current specialty.
