California State Duck Calling Championship & Outdoor Expo

Kittle’s Outdoor will present The 2014 California State Duck Calling Championship & Outdoor Expo, taking place at The Memorial Park, downtown Colusa on August 23rd & 24th and featuring 3 time World Champion Butch Richenback, founder of Rich N Tone duck calls from Stuttgart, Arkansas. Also featuring a California Native 2 time World Champion caller from Chico, CA, Bret Crowe – Owner of JJ Lares duck calls & creator of the 2014 Kittle’s limited addition duck calls.

Kittle’s Outdoor is proud to bring The 2014 CA State Calling Championship to Colusa for 4th consecutive year. The CA State Calling Championship will run 6 contests over two days. The event will kick off with a FREE duck calling workshop for kid’s 12 & under from the legendary Butch Richenback, followed by a FREE duck call tuning for everyone with Butch.

Saturday the 23rd will include 3 contests for youth with a $0 entry fee, free lunch & shirts, and great prizes from Sitka Gear, Willow Creek Duck Calls, Hardcore and G&H Decoys. This year Kittle’s is flying in celebrity guest judge, Butch Richenback who will be hosting a FREE duck calling workshop on Saturday @ 10am for kids under 12 yrs old and a FREE duck call tune-up for everyone at 11am.

On Sunday the 24th three contests will be held sporting cash purse payback of 100% of the entry fees plus $1000 added to the Sanctioned State Duck Champion, $500 added to the Open Speckle Belly Goose contest, and $500 added to the Two Man Duck contest (with both an Amateur & Pro Division).

Registration starts at 9:00am.

Each day of the event Kittle’s will be giving away a Beretta A400 12 gauge shotgun with no purchase necessary to qualified individuals. Over 35 waterfowl and community vendors will set up shop. Ducks Unlimited will be providing a BBQ lunch menu both days and Saturday night CWA is hosting a Duck Hunter Dinner Party with a band @ the Steelhead Lodge starting at 5:30. Limited tickets are available from CWA or Kittle’s Outdoor.

The competition calling is different from calling in the field. As Phil Robertson, the Duck Commander and star of Duck Dynasty, once said “If a mallard duck entered a duck calling contest it would finish third.”

Pat Kittle’s reply is ”What would a mallard duck do with $1500 and a Sitka Jacket anyway? I guess this is where we separate men and women from the ducks”.

This year’s event was made possible by the support of several sponsors but would not be possible without our Greenhead sponsorship from; Fishdog Outdoors, California Waterfowl Association, Ducks Unlimited, Ridgeline Safes, Recology Butte-Colusa Co., Colusa Casino & Resort, Beretta & JJ Lares Duck Calls.
