A potluck was held, following the service on August 31st, in order to say good-bye and God’s Speed to Pastor Zabdi Lopez. Pastor Lopez had been serving both Grace – Gridley and Bethlehem- Colusa, for the last four years and has received a promotion to serve the Hispanic Ministry project of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. He will be responsible for about 1/3 of the nation as he takes on the Western States. Pastor Lopez will continue at Grace Gridley on a 70 % basis and spend 30% on his new position. Pastor Lopez, born in Mexico City, has always had a heart for the Hispanic ministry. Bethlehem wishes great success for both Pastor Lopez and his wife Elizabeth as they take on this new responsibility. We will miss their young daughter Hannah and his mother Blanca.
Bethlehem-Colusa has voted to retain Rev. Walter Schedler as their pastor. Pastor Schedler had served the congregation for 3 years prior to Pastor Lopez and has served as Assisting Pastor during the last 4 years. Sunday services will continue at 9:00 am with Bible study at 10:30 am; plus other Bible study and youth learning opportunities. Pastor Schedler can be reached at 530-458-8383.■
