Local fitness enthusiasts now have a place to work out and a place to relax.
Located at 201 5th Street in Colusa, Body Shop Fitness has partnered with local Certified Massage Therapist Aurora Ramirez and celebrated the venture with a ribbon cutting ceremony with the Colusa County Chamber of Commerce.
Since March of 2012, Ramirez provided her massage therapy services to her clients out of her home and recently took a leap of faith and opened a shop on the second floor of the Body Shop Fitness Center.
āI am very thankful for the Seavers for allowing me to be a part of their gym,ā said Ramirez.
Providing Swedish, Deep Tissue, Sports Massage, Ramirez also offers My fascial release, structural analyzing, pelvic stabilization, and hot and cold stone massage.
Ramirez also offers vegan spray tans, body wraps, and tanning bed services.
āI love working with people,ā said Ramirez, āIt has been my passion.ā
The Body Shop Fitness Center also celebrated nearly two years of ownership after brothers, Paul and Colt Seaver embarked on the opportunity to save the local Colusa Fitness Center after the then owner, Hal Tacker, was going to retire and focus his energy on his paintings.
No stranger to the Fitness Center, Paul Seaver began working out at the age of 13 and even worked at the business throughout high school.
āThe gym was always a passion,ā said Paul Seaver, āWhen the opportunity came up I didnāt want to see our community lose a valuable asset.ā
Both Paul and his brother Colt purchased the gym in November of 2012 and re-branded the establishment as āBody Shop Fitness.’
Since the brothers purchased the gym, the business underwent a complete renovation with new rubber floors and new modern equipment.
āWe have gotten a lot of positive feedback from our members on the changes,ā said Paul Seaver, āItās been really awesome.ā
Along with physical changes, the business also went under structure changes; offering more than a place to āwork out.’
Sonia Vazquez, of Yuba City, is the Zumba Instructor for the Body Shop Fitness.
āZumba is an excellent way to work out and have fun,ā said Vazquez, āI love it here; everyone is so friendly – it keeps me coming back.ā
In addition to Zumba, the Body Shop Fitness offers Spinning Classes, Cardio Kickboxing and Strength Training Classes.
āThe Class is designed for all ability levels,ā said instructor Kelli Griffith-Garcia, āYou donāt have to be in the best shape to join. Come join us for some fun and exercise.ā
āI started cardio kickboxing having no experience with organized workout classes,ā said Jennifer Kessinger, āThe first class was a killer, but within a few weeks I could feel myself getting stronger and being more in control of my body during the workouts.Ā Now, I can see and feel a difference in my body. Iām glad itās offered at Body Shop Fitness.ā
