Olde Tyme Celebration – New Date

The organizers for the 2014 Christmas Tyme in Colusa want the public to know that the Olde Tyme Celebration will be held on a new date this year – Saturday, December 6, 2014.

“We’ve moved the event from Friday to Saturday,” said Vicky Willoh, “it’s the same celebration just on a better day.”

The eighteen year old event was traditionally held on the first Friday of December will now be held on the first Saturday.

Starting at 5:30 PM the streets will be lined with street vendors, carolers, and opportunities to do a little Christmas shopping with local businesses.

“It’s going to be a great event as always,” said Willoh.

Miss Colusa County will be hosting the Children’s Caroling in the Market Street Grill Parking lot.

“All children are welcome,” said event organizer, Lori Garofalo, “just show up at 5:15 p.m. and have fun caroling.”

Live Entertainment will be held at Colusa Theater featuring the High School Band, and Stardust Dance.

As always, Santa Claus will take time out of his busy schedule to make an appearance with the Colusa City Firefighters for a photo opportunity at 5th Street and Market Street.

“A special photo opportunity will also be available with Kory Lovell Racing from Yuba City,” said Garofalo.

This year, a special Kid’s zone, hosted by First Five Colusa County, will be held in the Davison Drug’s parking lot.

“We are raffling off a 8-foot stocking filled with children’s toys,” said Garofalo.

The stocking is on display at Market Street Grill with tickets available for sale, $1.00 each.

A Senior Citizen Social Spot will also be available at 430 Market Street.

At 6:30 p.m., the annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony will be held at the Court House front lawn.

“We are pleased to announce that a horse and carriage will also be available for a ride in historic downtown Colusa,” said Garofalo.

The Colusa County Chamber of Commerce will also be hosting a Christmas Tree Decorating Contest for local businesses.

If you would like to help volunteer with the event, would like to become a vendor or event sponsor, contact Lori Garofalo at (530) 788-8080 or email christmasincolusa@gmail.com.

“Stay up-t0-date with our Facebook page,” said Garofalo.
