Colusa Mourns the Loss of a Business Owner

On Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at approximately 4:30 p.m., the Colusa Police Department was dispatched to a report of a shots fired at Carniceria LaReyna located at 751 Fremont Street in Colusa.

When officers arrived on the scene, they discovered, 41-year-old, Luz Aida Altamirano, deceased in the storage area of the business.

“In our investigation we determined there to be no criminal activity that occurred at the scene,” said Sgt. Josh Fitch of the Colusa Police Department, “the incident was turned over to the Colusa County Coroner’s Office.”

Altamirano was the owner of Carniceria LaReyna in Colusa, and a former columnist for the Williams Pioneer Review.

The front window was broken out at the front of the store, was caused by family members attempting to gain access to the storage room, authorities said.

Altamirano is remembered for having a kind heart, a bright smile, and she was willing to help those in need.
