According to the California Highway Patrol, Lois Wills, 63 of Newark, Ca, was traveling southbound on Interstate 5 at an unknown rate of speed in a 1995 Chevrolet vehicle, when she began to enter into the right-hand curve.
Officers said that Willis made a left-hand turning movement causing the vehicle to travel off of the roadway, overturning three times in the dirt/grass center median. The vehicle came to rest on its roof.
Willis suffered major injuries and was transported to Enloe Medical Center in Chico.
Five passengers in the vehicle were transported to Colusa Regional Medical Center with minor to major injuries.
Officers said that seat-belt usage by the vehicles driver and passengers prevented more serious injuries from being sustained as a result of the traffic collision.
The collision is still under investigation by the Williams Area Office of the California Highway Patrol.
