Former teacher publishes children’s book

WPR 12.25.2014 - Gail HanlinA former Linda and Kynoch Elementary School teacher published a children’s book about a white rabbit who does not like being white; that is until he enters a magical garden and things happen.

“The Colorful Garden Bunny” written by Colusa resident, Gail Hanlin was inspired by a story she created and presented for her preschool class on a felt board for over fifteen years.

“I used to makeup stories and share them with my class,” said Hanlin, “I have also written several books for each of my grandchildren.”

“The Colorful Garden Bunny” is Hanlin’s first published book but she has more to come.

“I am happy with the way it turned out,” said Hanlin.

Currently, the books are available on, Barnes and Noble. Hanlin hopes to have the books available soon locally at Davison Drugs.

“This has been a dream come true,” said Hanlin, “as long as the book gets in the hands of a child, I am happy.”

Hanlin lives in Colusa with her husband Del. She is currently the Vice President of the California Retired Teachers Association for three counties; she is also the secretary for her church and a member of the National Association for Education for Young Children and the Professional Women’s Association.
