Colusa County Girl Scout Troops #1764 and #4134 prepared stone soup and sang Christmas carols to residents of the Frank Jaconetti Manor in Colusa on Wednesday, December 17, 2014.

The folk story of stone soup tells of hungry travelers who come to a village where no one is willing to share food with the strangers. That is when the travelers respond by telling the villagers that they will teach them how to make soup out of stones; and one-by-one the villagers make an offering of soup of various ingredients until a feast was born.

Unlike the folk story, the Girl Scouts bring ingredients where they cook a batch of stone soup in the kitchen of the retirement community.

After cooking the soup, the Girl Scouts go door-to-door singing carols while inviting residents back to the community room for a delicious feast.
