Audrey Erlene Gross passed away on March 10, 2014 at the age of 87. Born June 23, 1926 in Grimes, CA, she was a lifetime Colusa County Resident. Audrey practiced as a registered nurse at the local hospital for 40 years, retiring in 2005. A caring, loving angel, who was known to stay long after her shift ended to give extra care and kindness to her patients. People were comforted when they saw her face and many times people thanked her for taking such good care of loved ones while they were hospitalized, although thanks were not her motivation. She was selfless. Always thinking of others, she maintained a perpetual candy jar for the hospital staff. Without question, she was dedicated and truly loved her job. She was an active member of Beta Sigma Phi for over 50 years and a committed contributor to many charitable causes. The number one love in her life, however, was her family. Nothing compared to the joy Audrey felt in the presence of her children and grandchildren, whether it be traveling to her cabin in Butte Meadows, taking trips to San Francisco and Fort Bragg, or gathering around the kitchen table. She will be deeply missed.
Survivors include her daughters; Joy Hawley of Lynden, WA, Jill Rablin of Colusa, CA, Tina Gross Cremo of Chico, CA. Son; Kent Gross of Colusa, CA. Grandchildren; George Hawley, Megan Copeland, Lauren Hawley, Brandon Rablin, Sam Cremo, Tony Cremo, Wolfie Gross and four great grandchildren. Sister; Billiejean McElroy Durst.
Audrey was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, George Gross.
