Harold took to planes at a very young age, flying first at 9 and soloing at 11. When he was 16 years old, he joined the 4th Ferry Group working with the civil air patrol. At 18 years old, Harold joined the United States Army and was placed in the 530 specialized division. He was a pilot for over 60 years, the bulk of that was crop-dusting. He came to Woodland to work for Watts Ag Aviation in 1959. He retired in 2003 from Growers Air Service of Woodland. Harold was an early pioneer of crop dusting and was well known in the aviation world.
He is survived by his Son Harold Tacker Jr. (Hal) of Colusa, CA; Brother Joe Tacker of Carmel,CA;
Sisters Jane Bullock of Mississippi, Nancy Garner of Arkansas; Grandchildren Matt and Dustin Tacker.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Harold was preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Nancy Tacker; his Parents Joe Riley and Jewel Tacker and Brother Jack Tacker.
A Celebration of Harold’s life will be held on Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at McNary’s Chapel 458 College St, Woodland, CA 95695. Memorial contributions can be made in Harold’s name to the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum at P.O. Box 37012 MRC321, Washington D.C., 20013-7012.
