The Colusa County Public Health Department in partnership with Colusa High School’s Friday Night Live program, the CSU Chico, Center for Healthy Communities and the healthy corner store El
Toro Loco are working to encourage healthy food purchases through these events which are part of the statewide “Join the Movement for Healthy Change” campaign that encourages communities to find ways of living a healthy lifestyle.
El Toro Loco, located at 624 Fremont Street in Colusa, has been recognized as a healthy corner store which means that it promotes the sale of healthy foods through stocking and marketing items such as fresh fruits and vegetables, nuts and whole grain products. The goals of these events are to increase the availability and visibility of healthy foods, form community partnerships to advocate for a healthier community, and to empower the youth of Colusa through getting involved in their community.
The cooking demonstrations will be held at 3:30 PM on February 13, 20, and 27.
Residents of Colusa will gather at El Toro Loco to take part in free cooking demonstrations and food tastings provided by the Friday Night Live Colusa High School students. Cooking demonstrations will highlight easy ways to prepare healthy meals with ingredients easily found at local retailers such as El Toro Loco.
