“There was a challenge for many county residents to find the information and resources that are available to them within our county,” said Bowers.
Bowers, who works for the Colusa County Advocate for Parents and Children, teamed up with First Five Colusa County, and the Colusa County Department of Public Works to bring together all the available resources within the county during this countywide free event.
Starting at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 19, 2015, the three agencies will host a wealth of information on prenatal care, birthing information, breastfeeding, children services, school readiness, the CalFresh Program (formerly SNAP), W.I.C., and many other local agencies.
“The California Highway Patrol will be offering car seat advice and help,” said Bowers, “additionally, Dr. Lorraine Y. Chun, M.D., OB/GYN of the Colusa Regional Medical Center, Women’s Health Clinic will be available for an ‘ask the doctor’ segment.”
Bowers commented that though this is a first event of its kind in the county she expects a high turnout.
“We have assembled a great place to promote the services within our county,” said Bowers.
In addition to information and access to resources, several raffle prizes and goodies will be distributed that day.
The event is to be held at the Colusa County Office of Education Village, Multi-Purpose Room located at 101 Marguerite Street, in Williams.
