Colusa County Rugby Defeats Google 60-15

Colusa County Rugby Football Club (CCRFC) headed to Napa for another NCRFU SuperSite Saturday to play Google RFC at John F. Kennedy Memorial Park.

NCRFU slated this to be one of the key matches of the day as NCRFU South Division leader, Google was taking on NCRFU North Division leader, CCRFC.  A preview to NCRFU playoffs, CCRFC set the tone early to a 60-15 win.

CCRFC came out hard and fast in the first half, scoring 39 unanswered points with trys from a variety of players on the pitch.

The second half was much the same, with CCRFC being up 55-0 before giving up 3 points after a penalty inside of CCRFC’s 5 meter line.  With 20 minutes left in the half, Google posted a try off a penalty inside the 5 meter and traded trys in the final closing minutes of the match to finish at 60-15.

In the prior weeks, CCRFC faced the Shasta Highlanders, Humboldt Old Growth and the Mendocino Steam Donkeys.  In the last three matches, Colusa managed to outscore its opponents 267-52.

This week, CCRFC will host the Missoula Maggots in a friendly match.  The Maggots, host of the annual Maggotfest, are on their 2015 Pacific Northwest Tour and will be playing Reno, Chico and Portland over the course of five days  Kickoff is at 1:00PM at Egling Middle School in Colusa.  The remaining league match is schedules for April 11, 2015  with CCRFC facing Silicon Valley  at the NCRFU Reno SuperSite Match.

“Our club has really begun to get in sync over the last four matches,” said CCRFC President, Cody Beckley.  “Our forwards set the tone in possessing the ball and moving the gain line, while our backs continue to run like horses.  It’s great to see how things begin to click and we are hitting the peak of our play at exactly the right time before NCRFU playoffs.”
