According to the California Highway Patrol, Dalton Sachs, 18, of Arbuckle California was traveling in a 1994 Ford Ranger, eastbound at the stated speed of 55 MPH.
Just ahead of Sachs was Jose Sarabia-Trejo, 24, of Gridley, California, was operating a 1988 Ford Tractor with a Flail Mower trailer, traveling at a low rate of speed.
As Sachs quickly approached Sarabia-Trejo, he began to maneuver the tractor to the right shoulder in an attempt to avoid a possible collision.
Ultimately, Sachs failed to see Sarabia-Trejo’s vehicle moving at a low rate of speed and subsequently struck the rear of the tractor’s trailer.
The impact ejected Sarabia-Trejo from his tractor.
Sarabia-Trejo was transported by Reach Air ambulance to U.C. Davis Medical Center for moderate injuries.
Sachs had a minor complaint of injury and declined medical treatment.
The CHP commented that Sarabia-Trejo had the proper markings for a slow moving vehicle.
The collision is being investigated by the California Highway Patrol at this time.
